Mrs. Sue Storey Smith, 92, of LaFayette, died on Aug. 26 at the Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Mrs. Smith was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on Feb. 17, 1927, to the late A. D. Newell and the late Irene Estis Newell. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of LaFayette and was a homemaker, and also worked at the Tatum’s Dry Goods Store in LaFayette.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Nix, of LaFayette; son, Robert Lee Storey, Jr., of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Lee Storey, Sr.; daughter, Peggy Chapnick; and son, Daniel Edward Storey.

Funeral services will be held on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in LaFayette with burial to follow at the LaFayette City Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Ferguson officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
