Hester and Culpepper were presented with the Teamwork Award for their actions involved in the Labor Day 2018 fire on Revis Street in LaGrange, which resulted in several injured firefighters from the LaGrange Fire Department.

The members of Troup County Fire Department Rescue 1 and LaGrange Fire Department 3rd Battalion were nominated for their response that resulted in saving the lives of local firefighters.

The Ronnie Thames Foundation strives to assist firefighters and community organizations by offering educational programs focused on fire prevention through safety awareness.

The Silent Hero Awards were aimed to specifically recognize firefighters in the metro Atlanta community who made a difference through their commitment, dedication, and community spirit.

There were nearly 100 nominees for various awards from across the State of Georgia.

The four categories were composed of Leadership, Heroism, Education/Community, and Teamwork.
