Undefeated Chambers, Lanett remain in latest prep ranking

The last two undefeated teams in the Greater Valley Area are still the only teams ranked in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) prep poll.

Chambers Academy (3-0) remains the AISA No. 4 team after a 45-20 win over Abbeville Christian. The Rebels have now won 37-consecutive regular-season games. Chambers Academy was led by junior quarterback Payton Allen in the second half, who finished with three rushing touchdowns and 227 total rushing yards in the effort. Chambers Academy begins area play this week by hosting Cornerstone Christian.

Lanett High School (3-0, 1-0) remains the 1A No. 5-ranked program after defeating Wadley 14-13 in its first area matchup last week. The Panthers were led by the defensive efforts of the senior trio B.J. Smith, Eric McCants and Kristian Story. The Panthers return home to face Autauga for another area matchup.

Springwood School (2-1) still received votes to be ranked this week for AISA programs. The Wildcats lost to Lowndes Academy 31-17 last week after leading 17-13 at halftime. Springwood begins region play this week at Edgewood Academy.
