Lanett plays for 1A Region 4 title, Beulah in action tonight
There is an early game night this week due to potential weather concerns on Friday evening.
Two of six games in the Greater Valley Area will be played on Thursday night, headlined by 1A No. 3-ranked Lanett (8-0, 5-0) hosting Billingsley (5-3, 4-1) for the 1A Region 4 championship.
With a win tonight, the Panthers win their third consecutive region championship. Lanett is coming off of a 40-0 shut out against Verbena (1-7, 0-5) last week. The Panthers have defeated their last two opponents by a combined score of 82-0. Billingsley is coming off of a 37-14 loss to Notasulga (5-3, 4-1), a program that can find itself in a three-way tie for the region title with a Lanett loss and a win against Wadley (4-3, 3-2) this week. Last season against Billingsley, Lanett shut the Bears out 42-0.
Beulah (3-5, 1-5) takes a trip to face 3A Region 3 opponent Pike Road (9-0, 6-0) tonight. The Bobcats have lost four contests in a row, including last week’s 35-14 loss at home to Dadeville. Pike Road is coming off of a 42-14 win over Montgomery Academy (4-4, 4-2). In 2018, Beulah defeated Pike Road 29-24.
Both games are scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. EDT.
