Local teams spend week on the road as regular season winds down

- daniel Evans | Times-News milestone: Springwood School senior quarterback Jordan Plank moved into second on the passing list in program history last week after a completion to senior wide recewiver Louis Morrison. Tonight, Plank and the Wildcats return to action at Calvary in Columbus.
Five teams from the Greater Valley Area are away will spend tonight away from home, while Valley and Troup County have the week off.
Beulah (3-3, 1-3) heads down to Montgomery to face St. James (5-1, 3-1). The Bobcats are coming off of a 48-18 loss to Bullock County last week. Beulah got off to an 18-7 to begin the game before giving up 41 unanswered points to their opponents. St. James is coming off of a 35-24 loss to Pike Road. In 2018, Beulah lost to St. James 49-20 at home.
AISA No. 2-ranked Chambers Academy (7-0, 2-0) concludes a four-game road trip at Pickens Academy (1-5, 0-2) tonight. The Rebels are coming off of a 48-12 win over Success Unlimited last Thursday night in Montgomery. In the win, Braxton Allen and Jordan Benbrook both surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark with a pair of touchdowns each. In 2018, the Rebels shut Pickens out 49-0.
LaFayette (3-3, 3-1) are also heading down to Montgomery to face 4A Alabama Christian Academy (3-3, 2-2). The Bulldogs are coming off of an impressive 57-20 victory over Fayetteville (4-2, 1-2). Alabama Christian Academy is coming off of a 28-22 win against Headland (3-3, 1-2) last week. In 2018, LaFayette defeated Alabama Christian Academy 27-8.
1A No. 3-ranked Lanett (6-0, 3-0) return from an open week to face Loachapoka (2-5, 1-3). Loachapoka is coming off of a 28-0 loss at Notasulga last week.
In 2018, Lanett shut Loachapoka out 42-0 at home.
Springwood School (2-5, 0-2) is heading to Columbus to face Calvary (5-2, 2-1). The game was a late addition to the schedule for the Wildcats this past summer. Springwood is coming off of a 24-14 loss at home to Morgan (3-4, 0-2) last week. Senior quarterback Jordan Plank moved into second place on Springwood’s all-time for passing list in the effort.
