Mrs. Barbara Ann Adams — 1933-2019

Mrs. Barbara Ann Adams, 86, of Lanett, passed away at her home on Oct. 26. Mrs. Adams was born on April 16, 1933, in Roanoke to the late Thomas and Eula Taylor Fields. She moved to Lanett when she was in the fifth grade of elementary school, and continued her education in the Lanett School system where, in high school, she met her future husband Carlos Lee “Sonny” Adams. Barbara and Carlos began their marriage while attending high school together… a marriage which was blessed to last for 69 years and nine months, until her passing. Barbara worked in various capacities for West Point Stevens until she retired at age 65. Outside of work, she was a devoted mother, a homemaker and an active member of Lanett First United Methodist Church, where during her life, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. 

Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Carlos “Sonny” Adams; children, Deborah (Ron) Porter and Mark Adams; grandchildren, Chris (Pam) Sellers and Kellie (Marvin) Justice; great-grandchildren, Paige Sellers, Sarah and Hannah Justice; brother, Thomas (Janice) Fields; and sister, Brenda (Eugene) Maddox.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Billie Jo Edge; brother-in-law, James Edge; father-in-law, Vernon “Dusty” Adams; and mother-in-law, Bonita Adams.

The family will greet friends for Visitation on Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. EDT at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett. Funeral services will be held on Oct. 30 at noon EDT at Lanett First Methodist Church in Lanett. Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett.

The Rev. Andrew Gamblin and the Rev. Donnie Erwin-Brown will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Chattahoochee Hospice.
