Mrs. Lillian Hood Walden — 1934-2019

Mrs. Lillian Hood Walden, 85, of Lanett, passed away on Oct. 22 at the Valley Park Manor in Valley. Funeral services will be held on Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m.m. EDT from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Wyatt and the Rev. Kent Pelton officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 p.m. through 8 p.m. EDT at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Lamar (Vicky) Walden, Mike (Gail) Walden and Lisa (David) Powers; five grandchildren, Amy (Jeff) Klinck, April (Damon) Bailey, Paul Walden, Tiffany (Chris) Driver and Dewayne Harris; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Saundra) Hood and Cecil Hood; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mavis Cotney. Mrs. Walden was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Walden; her parents, Otis and Irene Hood; her sisters, Sue McCain and Lurline Hamby; brothers, Billy and Hugh Hood; and a great-grandaughter, Emily Antley.
Mrs. Walden was born in Lanett on Sept. 29, 1934. She was a member of the Lanett Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and loved to cook. She was a diehard Alabama fan. She was a homemaker because everybody had a house, but Mrs. Walden made her’s a home. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Valley Park Manor for the care and love given to Mrs. Walden.
Pallbearers will be Damon Bailey, Paul Walden, Dwayne Harris, Chris Driver, Tony and Derick Albright. Honorary pallbearer will be A.J. Bailey.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
