It takes six-months on average to build a single-family home in the United States. With the help of hundreds of volunteers, the Fuller Center has built and dedicated 17 newly-constructed homes in Beauregard since the third week of March.

Eleven of those homes were dedicated Friday.

Volunteers not only came from Chambers County, but from all over the country. Without these people, none of this could have happened. We applaud each volunteer that wielded a hammer, served lunch, supplied materials and donated money.

The outpouring of support for the Beauregard community outlines the compassion we have as a nation and should be celebrated.

The Hallmark channel has also jumped into the giving spirit by sponsoring three homes, pledging $150,000, but that is not all. The channel is producing a Christmas special on Beauregard that will air in December. Not stopping there, the channel will be dressing up the town with Christmas decorations complete with a living Christmas tree at Providence Church.

This should bring some joy back to this community in a time that will prove to be the most difficult.

The Chattahoochee Fuller Center is not done, and we are pleased to hear that. They are continuing to look for land and more sponsors and hopes to continue building. After what the folks in Beauregard have gone through, they deserve the continued support.
