Springwood returns to win column at Calvary

COLUMBUS — After suffering through five consecutive loses, Springwood School (3-5, 0-2) got back to its winning ways on Friday night with a 28-21 win over Calvary Christian.
“We were down 14-0 early and 21-14 at the half,” Springwood head football coach John Gartman said. “We made some mistakes that cost us points, but showed poise and resiliency in coming back to win.”
Springwood junior O.J. Tolbert led the defense with 11 tackles, while senior Chalyb Lenker added 10 tackles of his own in the effort.
Trevo Williams, Andre Mills, Ethan Plank, Coleman Hull, Adam Belk and Kannon Key all finished with more than six tackles.
Offensively, Tolbert rushed for 102 yards on 16 carries, while senior Jordan Plank led the team with 118 yards on the ground on 13 attempts.
Springwood now heads into an open week before returning to Lanett for homecoming against Lakeside on Oct. 25.
