VALLEY — On Thursday morning George King was out on the portion of the CV Railroad Trail that runs past Langdale Mill taking down his Gyro, a fun ride that was part of this year’s Christmas Merry Go Round attraction.

King’s Gyro, jumpers, and a train ride was just part of the fun. A mechanical bull from Ballard’s Party Rentals, Santa’s house and the all-weather tent from Jackson’s Heating & Air also contributed to a fun experience for young and old alike at the Christmas Merry Go Round this year.

“Lots of kids ride the Gyro every year,” King told The Valley Times-News,” but I think we had more parents riding it this year than we ever have. There was more new people this year; people I’d never seen before. People from all over the place come to the merry-go-round each year.”

King said that it was a short season because of the calendar and some bad weather affected the turnout this year.

“We lost around two days out of each week due to the weather,” he said. “We had great weather on Christmas Eve and a huge turnout that day. If every day had been like that, we would have had a great season this year. This year was pretty good but not the best year I’ve seen here.”

King has two businesses, one in Valley and one in LaGrange.

“We do a lot of business in Peachtree City,” he said.

“I’ve had the Gyro here every year there’s been inflatables at the merry-go-round. At one time, I had all my rides here, but I got sick one year and had to cut back. I had a light stroke three-and-a-half years ago, but I’m doing great now.”

King does lots of birthday parties, family reunions and community events. He said he likes entertaining folks and making people happy, especially children.
