Mr. William P. (Bud) Lindsey, Sr. — 1928-2019

William Pearson (Bud) Lindsey, a lifetime resident of Lanett passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, at his residence in Nathalie, Virginia.

Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Sue Craft Lindsey, their son Billy Lindsey, Jr., his brother Charles Lindsey of LaFayette, and his son-in-law, Jonathan Cook of Lanett.  He is survived by his daughters, Connie (Aron) Halsey of Nathalie, Virginia and Jan Cook of Lanett, Alabama; his seven grandchildren: William (Ashley) Lindsey, Jason (Jenny) Halsey, Meredith Cook, Bryan Halsey, Elizabeth Cook, Taylor (Jessica) Halsey, Eric Cook; along with six great-grandchildren Chandler, John Douglas, Jacob, Seth, Brayden, and Hannah, and family friend, David Kinder.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and Pop. Born in Buffalo, to Willie Joe and Mavis Hamlet Lindsey, Bud passed away under the full-time and loving care of his daughter, Connie in her Virginia home.

As a self-employed carpenter, Bud cared for many in his community, especially the widowed and elderly by providing them with home repairs.  He played a pivotal role in the building expansions of three area churches. He was also an avid gardener known for his tomatoes and Hydrangeas.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Resthaven Cemetery in Lanett. The Rev. Mark McGee will be officiating. His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 p.m. EST until the service hour.
