LANETT — Store Manager Daphne Arrington is pleased with the way things have gone during Tractor Supply’s first month in its new Lanett store. “It’s been really good,” she said. “We are pleased with the way the community has responded to us.”

Tractor Supply opened on Dec.14th, Alabama’s 200th birthday.

The new store has a total of 13 employees and is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. EST on Mondays through Saturdays and 9-7 on Sundays.

Tractor Supply will have its grand opening this coming weekend. From Thursday through Sunday the first 50 customers in the store will receive a $10 gift card. Through the four-day period, everything in the store will be 10 percent off.

A number of vendors will be there Saturday, including one from Nutrina Feeds. “We will have lots of local vendors including food trucks,” Arrington said. “We are hoping for a big turnout. We’d like for people to come and enjoy themselves.”

Arrington was at the Tractor Supply store in Roanoke for four years prior to coming to the Lanett store. “We are always busy, especially in the spring and summer months,” she said. “In March, we will start pushing our lawnmowers. We carry Bad Boy, Husky, and Cub Cadet mowers. This year we will start carrying Toros. We have riding lawnmowers, zero-turn mowers, push mowers and line-string trimmers.”

Popular items during the growing season include seed, live plants, potting soil, mulch, fertilizer, weed control items and all kinds of hand tools. “We have everything for your lawn or garden,” Arrington said.

Tractor Supply sells lots of pet food and animal feed. “We have three full aisles of it,” Arrington said. “We have food for dogs, cats, chickens, horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, rabbits, fish, exotic birds – you name it, and we can special order anything. I have ordered specialty food for monkeys and flamingos.”

“We have whatever animal food you need and can meet any budget,” she said. “We have specialty food for cattle and horses. We have starter food, growing food and maintenance food for them.”

Headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, Tractor Supply was founded in 1938 as a mail order tractor parts business in Minot, North Dakota. The company now has more than 1,800 stores in 49 states and has been rated by Fortune magazine as one of the top 100 fastest growing businesses in the U.S. Widely known for its appeal to the rural lifestyle, the company has conducted advertising campaigns featuring the slogan, “The stuff you need out here.” Tractor Supply is pretty popular with city dwellers, too, especially with its pet products and lawn care items.
