Popeyes celebrates one year anniversary

- On Thursday, Popeyes celebrated its first full year in Valley by cutting an anniversary cake and having specials throughout the day. Franchise owner Abid Khutliwala (kneeling at right) said that it was his way of thanking the people of Valley and the surrounding area for their support. “We had a really good year in 2019,” he said. VALLEY — There was a huge birthday cake, party balloons and specials throughout the day at Popeyes on Thursday. Located on Highway 29 just off Exit 79 on I-85, the fast food franchise marked one year in business on Dec. 29, 2019.
“We’re doing this today to thank Valley and the surrounding area for supporting us the way they have,” said owner Abid Khutliwala. “We had a very successful first year, and we are grateful for the way we have been received.”
Khutliwala also owns Popeyes restaurants in Phenix City and in Sharpsburg, Georgia.
Among those offering here congratulations at the 11:30 a.m. cake cutting were leaders from the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce – Carrie Royster, executive director; Shannon Craig, administrative assistant and Bill Gladden, past president.
Popeyes is an American multinational chain of fried chicken fast food restaurants founded in New Orleans in 1972. It is headquartered in Miami, Florida.
