An inmate was found dead in his cell at the Chambers County Detention Facility on Wednesday at approximately 6:15 p.m., according to a press release from the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.
The inmate was identified as Charles Louis Trammell, 71, from Valley. The body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy. The sheriff’s office said no foul play was suspected at this time.
The LaFayette Fire Department and Chambers County Coroner Jeff Jones responded to the facility after Trammell was found unresponsive, and he was pronounced deceased.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Bureau of Investigation is helping to investigate the incident, which is standard protocol.
