The Troup County Foster Parent Association will host its annual Second Chance Children’s Consignment Sale on March 7.
Twice a year TCFPA hosts its children’s consignment sale to help raise funds for its events throughout the year, including the Christmas Angel Tree.
“We host anyone in the area who is looking to sell gently used clothing and toys,” said consignment sale coordinator Phillip Schultz. “The big point of all this is this is how we fund our Christmas activities, Easter programs, and it also helps with the continuing education we do with our foster families in the area. This is basically how we make the money to get through the year.”
The foster care association helps fund and support the families in Troup County who have chosen to foster local children.
“Our goal is to support and help all the foster parents in the area,” Schultz said. “It’s a support group in a sense. The more we raise at this, the better we get to support those families.”
Consigners receive 70 percent of the sale price and access to the exclusive consigner presale event on Saturday morning.
“If anyone wants to donate clothes still, they can get in touch with us through our Facebook page,” Schultz said. “The fun thing is, we let you set your price. If it sells, you do get a percent of it back.”
This year, TCFPA hopes to raise more than $12,000 from the consignment sale to help fund its programs and events.
The consigner pre-sale will start at 8 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., general sale at 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and half-price sale at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The sale will be at Faith Baptist Church at 552 Hammett Rd in LaGrange.
Those looking to consign, there must be a minimum total value of at least $50. For the March sale, only spring and summer clothing will be accepted.
Schultz said they are also looking for volunteers to help with the event.
“This is a great chance if you like thrift shopping because you never know what you are going to find,” Schultz said. “Also, the foster care support system just needs everyone’s help, and this is a great event to support that.”
It costs a $1 donation to shop at the Spring and Summer 2020 Second Chance Children’s Consignment Sale.
Schultz said there will be clothing and shoes from infant to teen, and maternity clothing.
There will also be strollers, high chairs, games, infant gear and more.
