Cal Phelps, age 62, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020. He was born in LaGrange, Georgia July 2, 1957, to Harold W and Judy (Livingston) Phelps. Cal lived most of his life in Valley before moving to Covington, Georgia. He graduated from Valley High School in 1975 and attended college for two years. He was an avid Alabama football fan, loved Braves baseball, Redwings hockey and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. But his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Cal was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was warm, outgoing, and never met a stranger. He loved to cook and grill out for friends and family. Cal was a man of faith and most recently attended Christ Cornerstone Church where he was known for his signature overalls. He loved his four-legged fur babies, Jasmine, Romeo, Sadie and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Don Phelps. Cal is survived by his wife Elaine Phelps; daughter, Carla Dunaway (Shane) and son, Caleb Phelps; grandchildren, Hali Dunaway, Hanna Williams, Collin Dunaway, Chase Dunaway, Cayla Phelps, Conner Phelps, and Caden Phelps; great grandchild, Colton Williams; mother, Judy Phelps; sisters, Kim Ennis (Norm), Dana Harry (Greg); brother, Alan Phelps (Lisa); many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Christ Cornerstone Church, 1020 Oak Hill Rd, Covington, Georgia. with Pastor Darrell Payne and Assoc. Pastor Christ Walden officiating.
