Mr. Lorenza Lovorn (Shorty) Benefield 86 of Milltown died Friday, March 6, 2020, at his residence after an extended illness with his family by his side.

Shorty was born in Randolph County, March 9, 1933, to the late Thomas Benefield and the late Beulah DeLoach Benefield, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and retired from West Point Pepperell after 49 years of service.

Funeral services are pending.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Josephine Looser Benefield of Milltown. Daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Bryant of Wadley, two sons, John Benefield of Millton, Jason Benefield of Penton, two grandchildren, Matthew & Jade French of Michigan, three great grandchildren, Landon, Logan & Jocelyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Justin Benefield.
