Mrs. Joyce Arrington, age 88, of Valley, passed away on Feb. 29, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Arrington was born on Oct. 8, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Grover Cleveland Blankenship and Ada Joseph Moore Blankenship.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, S.I. Arrington; siblings, William Lawrence Blankenship, Evelyn Marie Blankenship, Emmett Labron “Pete” Blankenship, Warren Harding Blankenship and Virginia Blankenship.

Mrs. Arrington was a very active member of West End Baptist Church until her health began to decline.  She loved her church family, and she sang in the church choir for many years.

She was a very active and social lady who enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. You could often find her and her group of friends playing card games, dominoes, or hosting weekly bingo games for the residents of Lakewood Retirement Home. 

She also competed in the Senior Olympics on both the local and state levels, where she won many awards.

She also enjoyed traveling with her family.

She loved her yellow roses and her indulgence for chocolate covered strawberries.

Mrs. Arrington is survived by her sons, Michael Nolan Arrington and his wife, Jan, David Warren Arrington and his wife, Carmen; grandchildren, Jana Michelle Ingram and her husband, Chad, Christopher Michael Arrington and his wife, Shana, Kevin Foxworth, Kristen Foxworth; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Nolan, Madeline, Russell, Peyton, Liam, Aleck, Grace, and Graham; several nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the care and compassion provided for Mrs. Arrington to Debra, Jean, Nita, and Pat.  In addition, a special thank you to the team of Chattahoochee Hospice and Dr. Downs. 

While there are too many special people to mention, a sincere heartfelt thank you to Brook, Margaret Pollard, Kelly and so many more that were so thoughtful who provided care to Mrs. Arrington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her name to Chattahoochee Hospice.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at 2 p.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley. 

The Rev. Christopher Baldwin officiating. Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1 p.m. EST until the service hour.   The committal service will be private.
