Mrs. Jennie Johnson Gunnells, age 73, of Valley, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020, at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Mrs. Gunnells was born on December 18, 1946, to the late Paul Johnson and Ethel Hightower Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy (Luke) Gunnells; sister, Paula Ellison; brother, Kris Johnson.

Mrs. Gunnells was a resident of Valley Park Manor where she loved reading and playing games on her I-pad. She was a member of Fairfax United Methodist Church in Valley. She was retired from the City of Lanett.

She is survived by her sons, Jim (Benita) Gunnells, Jeff (Beth) Johnson; two grandchildren, Maddie and Lilly Johnson of Valley; sister-in-law, Peggy (W.L.) Gillenwaters, Valley; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Monday, May 11, 2020, at the Johnson Memorial Gardens in Valley with the Reverend Paul Messer officiating.
