It’s about time to start voting for our annual Reader’s Choice Awards, where the community picks its favorites in numerous categories in Valley and Chambers County.

If you’re new to the Reader’s Choice awards, it’s something we’ve been doing for years, and it’s a vote we really enjoy holding. Reader’s Choice allows the readers of our newspaper to pick their favorites in dozens of categories, which makes the winners true community favorites.

The categories range from favorite bakery to best barbecue and hot dogs to the top grocery store, bank and auto body shop.

There are also categories for best doctor, attorney, mechanic and many more.

Every year, local companies get extremely excited when they find out they won one of these awards, and it’s because it comes from the community. It’s truly the community’s recognition of the best in Chambers County.

That’s why you see the awards hung up at businesses around town. There’s a lot of pride associated with winning one, just because it’s voted on by the people who live and work here every single day.   

This special section prints in June, giving us a few weeks to collect ballots. The deadline for nominations is Saturday, May 30. We will publish a ballot in Saturday’s newspaper and it’ll be available on our website.
