GVACC awards first annual scholarship in June

When Chambers Academy held its graduation ceremony on June 18, the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce announced its first scholarship recipient.

Maci Harmon was the first recipient of the Annual GVACC Junior Ambassador Scholarship.

The scholarship, which was worth $2,000, was given to the a member of the junior ambassador program who demonstrates outstanding dedication, leadership and overall performance.

In order to qualify for the scholarship, the junior ambassador must be an upcoming senior and must be involved in post-secondary education. Other criteria include an interview with the GVACC board members and community leaders, which counts for 20%, a written essay, which is 25%, show leadership, professionalism and dedication, which is 25%. The final 30% of the application is involvement with the Junior Ambassador point system, where students receive a certain amount of point per event.

Harmon will attend Point University and be a member of the Skyhawks cheer team.
