Lady Bulldogs struggle in loss to Troup County

LaFayette’s girls basketball team struggled to get anything going against Troup County as the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Tigers 67-35. 

Troup dominated the game from the opening tip. The Tigers took a 27-point lead into halftime and continued piling it on from there. 

Offensive struggles completely haunted LaFayette. The Bulldogs connected on just six of their 25 three-point attempts.

Those struggles transferred over to the free-throw line where LaFayette connected on just five of their 11 attempts. 

Despite the struggles shooting, Aronique Kyles still had a good night for the Bulldogs. Kyles finished with 10 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block. 

Toniya Collier followed Kyles with eight points, three rebounds and one steal. Ameria Mcclure had a team-high eight rebounds to go along with two steals. 

LaFayette continually struggled to get the ball past halfcourt. The Bulldogs finished the game with 33 turnovers. 

Maliyah Gilbert had another outstanding night for the Tigers, finishing with 26 points. Sheniyah Philpot had a night of her own with 20 points. 

The loss on Tuesday dropped LaFayette’s record to 1-3 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs have dropped three straight games. Up next for LaFayette is a home game against Trinity on Thursday.
