Two people were shot and killed in West Point on Sunday, according to a press release from the West Point Police Department.

The deceased were identified as Kylie Womack, 26, and Jesus Lopez, 43, according to the Troup County Coroner’s Office.

On Sunday at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers from the West Point Police Department responded to 614 Avenue B in reference to a welfare check which resulted in the discovery of two deceased individuals.

Officers found Womack and Lopez suffering from a gunshot wound.

The case has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further investigation.
