Story announced his decision to enter the transfer portal a week ago after four years at the University of Alabama.

Story will be joining a Kentucky secondary that will also include Valley safety Cam Dooley who signed with Kentucky for the 2024 recruitment class.

Story will be transferring to Kentucky with two years of eligibility remaining. Story joins the Wildcats as the most experienced safety on the roster, and he should have a shot to compete for the starting role immediately.

Story helped lead Lanett to state championships in 2017 and 2019 before signing with Alabama in 2020 as a four-star prospect.

Story served as a special teams player and rotational player at safety for the Crimson Tide this season.

Kristian Story, along with the entire Story family, is a legend at Lanett High School and in the community.

In 2019, Story was named First Team All-State, awarded 1A Back of the Year and named Mr. Football after leading the Panthers to a 14-0 record at quarterback.

Story set the record for AHSAA career yards and total touchdowns, and was the team leader on defense.

Story’s father, Clifford Story, stepped down in May as Lanett’s head football coach after 14 seasons. Clifford Story still currently serves as Lanett’s athletic director. Story’s mother, Krisse Story, is currently the head volleyball coach at Lanett. Caden Story, Kristian’s brother, is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman at Clemson.

Story appeared in 28 games with Alabama before making the decision to find a new home this offseason.
