Chambers County Engineer Josh Harvill said the county is still working on repairing the two bridges that were damaged during last March’s storms.

“We are still working very hard with FEMA to get the bridges that are washed out … We want people to know that we’re committed to getting those bridges replaced,” Harvill said.

Harvill said the county has a plan to replace the bridges on County Road 98 and County Road 166 but has to wait on funds from FEMA. He said the process with FEMA is long and ongoing.

“Unfortunately, the process is taking more time than we would want, and we want the public to hear so we’re very close,” Harvill said.

The bridge on County 98 and County Road 166 closed after they were washed out in the flood damage from the March storms.
