The Beulah Bobcats got back into the win column on the diamond Friday as Beulah beat Alabama Christian Academy 8-7 at home.

The Bobcats used a late rally to overcome a one-run deficit. The bottom of the fifth inning is where Beulah turned things around as Wes Grant drove in Hunter Duval to cut ACA’s lead to one. Brady Blackston came up big when the Bobcats needed it most as he connected on a line drive to left field to drive in Drew Duval and Grant and give Beulah an 8-7 lead.

With the one-run lead still intact, Jadin Hancock came in and slammed the door shut for the Bobcats. Hancock struck out the first batter he faced and forced the second into a flyout. Then, Hancock struck the last batter of the night out on six pitches to send the Beulah faithful home happy.

ACA got an early lead in the game after scoring a run in each of the first two innings. Beulah came roaring back in the bottom of the second inning as Hancock drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Then, Wes Grant hit a ground ball that tied the game at two after the third baseman threw the ball out of the reach of the first baseman.

ACA struck back to take the lead in the top of the third inning, but Beulah continued battling back. Hunter Duval put the Bobcats back on top in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run double.

The Eagles seemingly took control of the game in the top of the fourth inning as they pushed across four runs to take a 7-4 lead. The Bobcats rallied in the bottom of the fourth inning as Sye Siggers drove Grant in on a ground out to cut the lead to two before the Bobcats came back and won the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Blackston did the most damage at the plate for the Bobcats on Friday, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Wes Grant had a big night at the plate. Grant went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Brayden Tapley did not have a hit in the game, but he scored two runs for the Bobcats.

Hunter Duval got the start on the mound for Beulah and allowed seven hits, seven runs and four earned runs in the game. Duval also struck three batters out in 3 ⅓ innings of work.

Blackston and Hancock came in for relief and allowed no runs in a combined 3 ⅔ innings of work. The pair also combined for five strikeouts.

The win on Friday pushed Beulah’s record to 2-3 on the season. The Bobcats will be looking to get back to .500 in a matchup against Reeltown on Tuesday.
