Middle Georgia State – 10

The Knights started the game hot as they tallied four runs in the top of the first inning. Georgia Bice got it started for Middle Georgia State as she put the first run on the board by walking with the bases loaded. Summer Lawrence opened the game up as she drove in three with a double.

Katelyn Jiles got the start for Point, but she was chased out of the game after just ⅔ of an inning. Jiles gave up four earned runs, three hits and two walks.

The Skyhawks rallied in the bottom of the first inning as Tia Coleman put Point on the board with an RBI single. Caylee Quarles cut the Knights’ lead to just two with a one-run double.

From there, the Skyhawks were mostly stagnant at the plate as Point failed to put another run across the plate.

The Knights picked up where they left off in the top of the second inning as Morgan Windham drove in a run with a double. Madisyn Riggins then drove Windham in with a ground out to push Middle Georgia State’s lead to three.

Riggins continued her hot night as she drove in three in the top of the third inning to give the Knights an 8-2 lead.

Middle Georgia State put its last runs on the board in the top of the fifth inning as Christina Zeppa drove in two runs with a double.

Hannah Phillips led the Skyhawks at the plate, going 3-for-3. Chloe Mitcham and Zada Smith came in for relief on Friday. Mitcham allowed two earned runs while Smith allowed four.

Middle Georgia State – 6

Point’s offense struggled to put anything together in the back half of the doubleheader as the Skyhawks were shutout 6-0.

Lawrence got it started for the Knights as she drove in a run on a single in the top of the first inning. Zeppa pushed Middle Georgia State’s lead to two with a groundout in the top of the third inning.

Windham continued adding to the Knights’ lead as she drove in two runs with a single in the top of the fourth inning. Riggins rounded out the scoring for the Knights as she drove in Windham.

Alyssa Burrows got the start on the mound for Point and allowed six earned runs and nine hits in four innings of work. Jiles came in to relieve Burrows and allowed two hits and no earned runs in three innings.

Phillips once again had the best game at the plate for Point as she went 3-for-4. Brooke Burkett also went 2-for-2.

The two losses on Friday added to what has been a brutal losing streak for the Skyhawks. Point started the season at 2-0 and now sits at 2-9. Up next for Point is a matchup against Brewton-Parker on Saturday.
