The Point University Golf Club is hosting a glow in the dark golf tournament. The tournament is unlike a normal 9-hole golf experience. It will start at 6:30 p.m. as the sun sets and participants will get glow balls to play with. The golf club is located at 2001 Country Club Road in Lanett.
Check-in begins at 5:30, when the teams will get the glow in the dark golf balls. It is BYOF or bring your own flashlight. Teams will be spread out across 9 holes so as to not get backed up on the course.
“It’s not like really keeping a score you need to go out there, you know, hit it, have fun. Just just enjoy it and spend time with whoever you’re playing with,” said Tyler Poole, one of the organizers of the event.
When all the teams finish their rounds prizes will be given out. There will be a prize for the lowest scores and on some holes it will be the closet shot to the pins. Poole emhasized that the tournament is for all skill levels.
“Don’t expect to shoot a low score or anything. Just come out and play in the dark, It’ll be fun,” Poole said.
This is the first year the club has hosted the event. Poole said he and the club’s general manager wanted to bring something new and different to their course. They saw other clubs were doing glow in the dark tournaments and decided to give it a try. They already have a handful of teams registered and plan on having more.
While solo golfers are welcome, some the activities at the event are just for teams of two. To register it is $60 per team and the cost includes the glow balls, golf cart access, and prizes. Forms and fees should be submitted by March 5. The club takes cashh, card and checks. For more information call 706-784-8719.
