On March 5 th at 4:45 PM deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office received a call in
regards to an individual from the Cobb County area who had traveled to West Point Lake to go
fishing on March 4 th and never returned home and was not answering his phone. A short time
later deputies located the truck and boat trailer that belonged to the person at 1000 Seminole
Road (Highland Marina) and immediately began a search for the boat.

A short time later the boat was located anchored in a boat slip at Highland Marina unoccupied.
The Department of Natural Resources and the Corp of Engineers were notified to assist in the
search for the individual. At around 7:30 PM the body of the missing person was recovered from
under the water and was pronounced dead.

The male was identified as Lorenzo Reed, 60 years of age, of Cobb County. Though there were
no witnesses to what happened to Mr. Reed, Investigators believe at some point Mr. Reed fell off
