Funeral services for Dewey Michael “Mike” Vowell, age 65, of Rock Mills, will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Brewer, Bro. Keith Benefield, and Bro. Mark Brand officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Mr. Vowell passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include two sons, Chris Vowell (Kristin Porter) of Roanoke and Steven Vowell of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Cainan Vowell, Hudson Vowell, Saylor Vowell, Alexa Vowell, and Tyler Vowell; two sisters, Debbie Boggs (Freddie) of Rock Mills and Sharon Willis of Alex City; and the mother of his children, Shelia Vowell.

Pallbearers will be Tristan Mapp, Tim Broach, Caleb Davis, Derrick Green, Joey Overton, and Tyler Karr.  Justin Vowell will serve as honorary pallbearer.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Vowell was born November 9, 1958, the son of Dewey Swann Vowell and Bertie Gae Nolen Vowell White.  He was a member of Handley Avenue Church of God and had been employed with Wehadkee Mills and Glovis.  Mr. Vowell was a family man, loved his boys and his grandchildren.  He loved watching Alabama football. “Roll Tide!” He was dedicated to his church and had a servant’s heart, willing to help everyone, and supported many charities, particularly St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, David Broach.

Memorials may be floral or the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
