The Lady Rebels exploded at the plate on Monday night as Chambers Academy put on a show for the home crowd in a 21-13 win over Lakeside.

The Rebels found themselves in an early hole after an error gave Lakeside a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Chambers Academy had an immediate response when Sophie Price drove in a run with a single before Madison Stanford drove in two more runs with a fly ball to right field.

Defense proved to be an issue again for Chambers Academy as four errors and three walks led to Lakeside taking a 9-3 lead in the top of the third inning. It was a short-lived change of momentum for the Chiefs as the Rebels took the game over in the bottom of the third inning.

Olivia Daughtrey got it started for Chambers Academy with a two-run home run, and two more runs scored on errors to cut Lakeside’s lead to two. MaKenzie Gilliland tied the game at nine with a double into left field that scored two. Makayla Foster kept the rally going with a one-RBI double to give the Rebels a 10-9 lead. Daughtrey then added to her tally with a two-run triple before scoring on a passed ball to give Chambers Academy a 13-9 lead.

The Chiefs found a way to fight back in the top of the fifth inning as they tied the game at 13. The Lady Rebels took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth as Daughtrey scored on a passed ball. Chambers Academy put the game away in the bottom of the sixth as the Rebels added seven runs to close it out.

It was pretty much pick your poison for Chambers Academy on Monday as every girl in the lineup made an impact at the plate. Daughtrey led the way going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and five runs. Stanford went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs. Foster had another big night, going 4-for-5 with one RBI and four runs.

Price got the start for the Rebels in the circle. She allowed just four hits, but the defense struggled behind her as she allowed nine runs with eight of those runs being unearned. Payten Earl got the save as she closed the door out of the bullpen, allowing just two hits in three innings.

Chambers Academy now sits at 9-13 on the season, and the Lady Rebels will face Lakeside again on Tuesday in a doubleheader on the road.
