Chambers Academy – 2

Southern Christian – 4

The Lady Rebels were unable to overcome an early deficit in the first game of the doubleheader as Chambers Academy fell to Southern Christian 4-2.

The Patriots got the scoring started in the top of the second inning as Mary Riddle walked a runner with the bases loaded. The next run scored as Riley Patterson got the force out at third base with the bases still loaded. The Patriots made it 3-0 as a run scored on a passed ball.

Chambers Academy rallied back into the game in the bottom of the third inning as Gabby Coleman drove in Alli Paschal and Madison Stanford with a double.

Offense was in short supply for the Lady Rebels until the bottom of the seventh inning. Chambers Academy was able to get three runners on base with one out and Paschal up to bat. Paschal flew out to center field and the runner was then thrown out at second base to end the game.

Riddle got the start in the circle for the Lady Rebels and allowed three hits and three runs (no earned) in four innings of work. Sophie Price relieved Riddle in the fifth inning and allowed no hits, no runs, three walks and struck out three batters in three innings.

Game two:

Chambers Academy – 8

Southern Christian – 12

The final game of the doubleheader was a game of rallies for each team. Unfortunately, Chambers Academy’s rally came up short as the Lady Rebels lost 12-8.

Southern Christian got the scoring started early with two runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady Rebels struck back in the bottom of the second inning as Olivia Daughtrey hit a two-run home run over the right field fence to tie the game at two.

The Patriots continually fought back as Southern Christian took a 4-2 lead in the top of the third inning. Then, Chambers Academy’s display of power continued as Makayla Foster hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut Southern Christian’s lead to one.

Southern Christian was never fazed as the Patriots added an insurance run in the top of the fifth before Chambers Academy added two runs to tie the game at five in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Patriots exploded in the top of the sixth inning as the Patriots added five runs and took an 11-5 lead before adding one final insurance run in the top of the seventh inning.

The Lady Rebels showed very little quit as Gabby Coleman drove in a run on a double and scored on a ground out later in the inning to make it 12-7. Price then drove in Daughtrey with a single to cut the lead to four. The rally was short-lived as each of the next two batters got out to end the game.

The two losses dropped the Lady Rebels to 6-8 on the season. Up next for Chambers Academy is a matchup on the road against Evangel Christian on Thursday.
