Knauf Insulation celebrated a recent expansion in Lanett at the AlabamaGermany Partnership Annual Celebration Dinner last week. The organization, which fosters industry relationships between Alabama and Germany, recognized Knauf with an award for continuing to invest in the state.

Knauf Insulation, a Germany-based company, opened its Lanett facility in 1988. The company has been a consistent source of employment and economic growth for the community ever since.

Ansley Emfinger, Senior Project Manager for the Chambers County Development Authority, attended the dinner in support of Knauf in Lanett and its 2023 expansion. Not only does the Chambers County Development Authority introduce new industries to the county, but they also support and provide resources to its existing industries.

“Having our existing industries continue to want to put money into their facilities here just really shows that they’re investing here, and that’s just a big deal for us,” Emfinger said. “… We’re just thankful that they continue to invest in our community.”

The AGP dinner is an annual gathering designed to recognize and strengthen the bridge for economic developers between Germany and Alabama. Knauf Insulation, in Chambers County, was just one of many German and Alabama-based companies recognized for expansions over the last year: Airbus, BOCAR US, Inc., Eissmann Automotive, Rausch & Pausch (RAPA), REHAU Automotive, Schmidt Automotive USA and Star Cooperation USA.

Knauf Insulation manufactures fiberglass and other insulation products. The Lanett plant employs over 200 people. One thing that sets Knauf apart from the typical manufacturing plant is that their management is largely made up of employees who started at entry level positions.

The Lanett plant is enrolled in a state-recognized apprenticeship program to help employees continue their education and advance their careers.
