Rams dominate Eufaula to start unbeaten in area play

Valley began area play on Tuesday against Eufaula, and the Rams dominated in a 9-1 win over the Tigers. 

Valley got it started early as Seth Hammock walked with the bases loaded to give the Rams a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Valley added to that lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Bryson Monteith drove in a run with a single, and Matthew Mcdonald drove in another run with a two-out single to give Valley a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. 

The Rams continued piling it on in the bottom of the fifth inning as Carter Green drove in two runs with a double. Hammock then added to his tally with a sacrifice fly before another run scored on an error. Mcdonald stayed hot at the plate with another RBI single, and CJ Chambley drove in a run on a single to give the Rams a 9-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Tigers struggled to find momentum at the plate, but Eufaula did finally get on the board with a one-run single in the top of the seventh inning. 

Jackson Sanders got the start on the mound for Valley and dominated the opposing batters. Sanders allowed just three baserunners in five innings and struck out 14 batters. 

Monteith came in for relief and struck out one batter in one inning. Clayton Sanders finished it off for Valley, allowing one earned run in one inning on the mound. 

Mcdonald, Sanders, Chambley, Mason Yarbrough and Green led the way at the plate for Valley as they each finished with two hits. Mcdonald, Green and Hammock led the team with two RBIs apiece. 

Tuesday was just another stop in what has been a dominant season for the Rams. Valley is now 13-2 with a road game against Eufaula on Thursday.
