Rams soccer lose tough one at home

The Valley Rams soccer team opened up area play on Monday at home against Beauregard and the Rams suffered a tough 4-1 loss. 

Valley struggled to get things going on the offensive end early on and trailed by two goals at the half. Josh Lugo got things going for the Hornets with the captain giving his team a 1-0 lead with 21:43 left in the first half. 

Lugo kept leading the way for Beauregard, this time through his facilitating. Griffin Waller scored with five minutes left in the first half after a crosser from Lugo.

The Rams finally battled in the second half as Miguel Sosa scored on an assist from Jeiner Ariza to cut the lead to one. 

Valley had multiple chances to tie and take control of the game in the second half, but the Rams struggled to make the final pass. 

Instead, Beauregard sealed the game late as Bryan Lugo scored to give the Hornets a 3-1 lead with just over 13 minutes left. 

Beauregard added one final blow before the match ended as Ison Mcanally scored on a header with 12:03 left in the match. 

Sosa led the way for Valley with one goal on just one attempt. The Rams attempted 10 shots in total. 

Chris Martinez got the start in the goal for Valley. Martinez has started at center-back for most of the season. Martinez allowed four goals and finished with eight saves. 

The loss on Monday gives Valley a 0-1 record in area play. The Rams are now 2-3 on the season. Valley has a quick turnaround as the team travels to face Elmore County on Tuesday.
