The Lady Rams put together one of their best performances of the season on Tuesday as Valley downed Russell County 7-1 at home.

Russell County got on the board first with a passed ball in the top of the first inning, but the Rams quickly came firing back. Neveah Crane got Valley on the board as her line resulted in an error to score Amari Lowe. Crane later scored on a wild pitch to give the Rams a 2-1 lead in the inning, and it was all Valley from there.
The Warriors may have got on the board early, but Valley’s defense was stifling from there on. Reese Riley got the start on the mound and was stellar. Riley pitched all seven innings for the Rams and allowed just four hits, no earned runs and struck out 11 batters.

Smart baserunning and coaching helped Valley to steal the momentum in the bottom of the third inning. Alyssa Letson was walked and then immediately took off for second base. During all the confusion, Lowe stole home. Then, Crane drove in Letson with a single to give the Rams a 4-1 lead.

The lead continued to snowball in the bottom of the third inning as Reese Lynch drove in a run with a single. Mackenzie Atkins later scored from third in the inning as a runner was thrown at trying to steal second base.

Crane added the final run for the Lady Rams in the bottom of the fifth inning as she advanced from first to third on a passed ball and a wild pitch before scoring on a ground out to make it 7-1.

Lowe led the way at the plate for Valley. Lowe went 2-for-3 with two runs and one walk. Crane went 1-for-2 in the game with three runs scored and one RBI.

Valley now sits at 3-12 on the season with several important matchups coming up. The Lady Rams will host Tallassee on Thursday.
