The Bobcats weathered an early storm and came away with a dominant 16-6 win over Childersburg to advance in the 3A regional tournament in Montgomery.

The Tigers surged to start the game as Childersburg scored two runs on a single before another single and a ground out gave the Tigers a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Beulah fought back in the bottom of the first inning as Abrianna Green got the Bobcats on the board with a one-run double before another run scored on an error. Payton Shoemake scored to cut Childersburg’s lead to two as she scored from third on a bunt from Kyleigh Morgan.

The Bobcats tied things up in the bottom of the second inning. Libby Buchanan drove in a run with a single and later scored on a wild pitch to even the score at five.

Beulah took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the third inning as Morgan scored on a passed ball. That lead got pushed to two in the bottom of the fourth inning as Madyson Snedigar singled on a bunt to score Buchanan.

A hit batter with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning gave Childersburg a run, but the Bobcats controlled the game from that point forward.

Beulah dominated the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring the first run on a ground out before Buchanan drove in another run with a single to give Beulah a 9-6 lead. Snedigar helped the lead continue to swell with a two-run single before she later scored on a bases-loaded walk from Clara Burke.

Green hit a three-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Beulah a 15-6 lead before Maci Wingo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to end the game an inning early by the mercy rule.

Beulah dominated the game at the plate, finishing with 15 hits and just two strikeouts. Green led the way, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Buchanan added five hits and two RBIs while Snedigar added two hits and three RBIs.

Kenly Yeager got the start in the circle but did not record an out after allowing two earned runs and two walks. Green came in relief, allowing just three hits in 2 ⅓ innings. Snedigar finished the game and allowed just one hit in 3 ⅔ innings.

Game Two: Beulah – 7 Randolph County – 6

The Lady Bobcats faced a familiar foe in Randolph County in the second game on Thursday. Beulah got revenge over Randolph County in a 7-6 win after losing to the Tigers in the area tournament earlier this season.

Beulah got the scoring started in the top of the first inning as Morgan drove in a run with a double. Randolph County bounced back quickly with two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead.

The Bobcats tied the game in the top of the third inning with an RBI single from Green before a single from Snedigar gave Beulah a 3-2 lead. The Bobcats added a final run in the inning as Green scored after a double play.

Beulah’s lead continued to swell as Snedigar drove in another run with a single in the top of the fifth inning before Green scored on a ground out to make it 6-2.

Randolph County rallied, scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth and tying the game with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Snedigar came away with the clutch hit for Beulah in the top of the seventh inning as she drove Green in with a single to give the Bobcats a 7-6 lead. Wingo shut down any chance of a comeback as she forced three straight outs in the last half-inning.

Green and Snedigar were solid at the plate again for Beulah with three hits apiece. Snedigar finished with three RBIs. Morgan added two hits and one RBI.

The win allowed Beulah to stave off elimination and set up a win-or-go-home game against Alabama Christian Academy.

Game Three: Beulah – 8 Alabama Christian Academy – 9

Beulah got the scoring started in game three as Morgan drove in two runs in the top of the first inning. ACA rallied and scored four in the bottom of the second to take the lead.

Morgan came up clutch again as he crushed a three-run home run in the top of the third inning to give Beulah a 5-4 lead. The Bobcats added another run in the inning to make it 6-4.

The Eagles cut the lead back to one with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Then, things unraveled for Beulah in the bottom of the sixth as a single and two errors gave ACA a 9-6 lead.

Beulah’s final chance came in the top of the seventh, and the Bobcats cut the lead to just one after a two-run single by Elizabeth Hancock. With Hancock on second and two outs, Clara Burke struck out swinging to bring an end to Beulah’s season.

Morgan and Hancock led the way at the plate. Morgan finished with two hits and three RBIs while Hancock added two hits and two RBIs. Beulah finished the season with a 16-15-1 record.
