Campbell B. Lanier, III “Cam”, age 73 of Lanett, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his Sehoy home in Hurtsboro, Alabama on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Cam was born in Langdale, Alabama on October 22, 1950, to Campbell B. Lanier, Jr, and Sydney Gaines Lanier.

He loved his family dearly, who knew him as “Dada”, and spent much of his time hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, family, and friends.

After graduating from Presbyterian College in 1972, Cam founded a number of early stage telecom and technology companies, many of which grew to be highly successful businesses. Cam’s reach touched countless lives, all of whom were inspired by his strong faith, ethical business practices, and a value system that was the foundation of his success. His legacy will have a lasting impact of generations to come throughout his vast community of friends.

Cam is survived by his wife, Melanie S. Lanier, by his son, Campbell B. Lanier IV and wife Amelia C. Lanier, grandsons Cam V, Park, Pete, and granddaughter Ann Louise. He is also survived by his daughter Melissa Lanier Price (Scott) and grandchildren Zachry, Malcolm, and Jane Lowry, as well as his brothers, Gaines (Sonia) and Tom (Sue Ellen), and a host of extended family members. He is preceded in death by his father Campbell B. Lanier, Jr, his mother Sydney Gaines Lanier, and his wife Jane Zachry Lanier.

Services will be held at Spring Road Christian Church (1729 Spring Road, Lanett, Alabama) on Tuesday, May 7, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, followed by a private graveside ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting gifts be given to Cam’s beloved organizations: the Lanier Family Foundation, Presbyterian College, and Point University.
