WEST POINT — Mr. Arthur Lee “Dickie” Slaughter was born the third child to the late Mrs. Lottie Sue Billingslea and the late Frank Ross on Sept. 16, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky. Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend was called home on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange.

He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Lanett. He was a member of the Class of 1972 at West Point High School in West Point.

Arthur loved his children and his family. He had a special love for Daddy and Mama Stiggers (Rev. O.C. and Catherine Stiggers). He was a very kind hearted and loving person. He loved fishing and being in the outdoors. He opened his home to everyone.

He was loved by all and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie Sue Billingslea and Frank Ross and three brothers, Willie Rufus Brooks, Timothy Slaughter and Michael Scott.

He leaves to cherish his memories four sons, Arthur (A.J.) Slaughter, Joshua (T.C.) Slaughter, both of West Point, Larry Love, Lanett, and Tony Love, Birmingham; one daughter, Patience Love, Birmingham; one sister, Janice (Rev. Charles) Trammell, West Point; four brothers, Abe Billingslea, Columbus, Ga., John (Rosie) Slaughter, LaGrange, William (Decora) Slaughter and Charles (Sheryl) Slaughter, both of Louisville, Kentucky, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing service for Mr. Slaughter will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 10 a.m. EDT from the sanctuary of the St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, with the Rev. Charles Trammell, pastor and eulogist, and the Rev. Billy Drakes and the Rev. Michael Stiggers assisting. Interment will follow in the Marseilles Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence of the Rev. Charles and Mrs. Janice Trammell, 800 Whiten Road, West Point.
