LANETT — Mr. Robert Heath Jr., a resident of Lanett, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at his residence.  Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 1 p.m. EDT from Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lanett, Pastor Jessie Walker II, officiant, and Rev. Calvin Trammell, eulogist, will preside. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lanett. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley is directing.  Public viewing is scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2019, from 1 until 7 p.m. from Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Mr. Heath was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church of Roanoke (Welch community), As a young man growing up in Five Points, he had a passion for the sport of softball and was a stellar athlete known as “The Slugger.”

In 1984, he married his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Davetta Cooper of Union Springs.  Affectionately known as “Sugar Pie,” Robert was a gentle, loving and concerned person.  For many years he was employed by WestPoint Stevens, where he attained the position of weave room supervisor at Carter Mill.

His survivors include his wife, Davetta C. Heath, Lanett; his loving daughter, Jillian R. Heath of Lanett;  two sons, Ronnie Heath of Atlanta and Derrel Greenwood of Lanett; his grandson, David Robert Heath of Lanett; granddaughter Ka’Zariah Greenwood, LaGrange; one sister, Jewel (William) Oliver, Roanoke; one brother, Edward (Dorothy) Heath Sr., Hoover; two sisters­-in-­law, Phyllis (Robert) Matthews of Montgomery and Darolyn Cooper, Smyrna, Georgia ; cousins who were raised as siblings, Beatrice (Jimmy) Allen, Five Points, Martha Griffin and Luella Williams, both of Lanett, and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, the Askew Family, Ralph and Donna Jordan, the Williams Family, the Reese Family, Patricia Reed and “the girls,” Kathy Williams, Brenda Benton, Deborah Davis, Lisa Scott and Barbara Dorsey.  Online condolences can be expressed at www.davismemorialmortuary.com.
