VALLEY — A Valley man was arrested Thursday on charges of sexual abuse of a minor, according to the Valley Police Department.

Mykel Everett Kelley, 28, has been charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

According to police, a report was filed with the police department on Sept. 17 concerning the alleged sexual abuse of a minor while the child was in the care of family members. The case was investigated by detectives with the Valley Police Department and agents of the Children’s Advocacy Center.

After his arrest, Kelley was booked the police department and then transported to the Chambers County Detention Facility pending a bond hearing.

Police say due to the age of the victim and the relationship between the victim and the defendant, no further information concerning the incident will be released.
