Beulah falls to region opponent St. James

MONTGOMERY — The Beulah Bobcats (3-4, 1-4) lost on the road to St. James (6-1, 4-1) 42-14 on Friday night.

Junior quarterback Kaleb Abney completed 7-of-14 passes for 86 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

On the ground, senior running back Chris Person finished with 100 yards on 16 carries. Junior running back Quay Moreland had five carries for 75 yards and a touchdown. Abney scrambled five times to add 33 rushing yards to the effort.

Person led all Bobcat receivers with 24 yards, sophomore Tae Paige had a 22-yard catch, senior JaQuavion Johnson reeled in a catch for 17 yards and senior DaShawn Jones caught a nine-yard pass for a touchdown.

Defensively, Johnson led the team with eight tackles. Jones and senior safety Dylan Coleman each finished second for Beulah with seven tackles. Senior Andruw Coxwell added three tackles.

Moreland made both extra-point field goals, while junior Austin Billingsley punted three times for a total distance of 110 yards. 

Beulah returns home next week to host region-opponent Dadeville (1-7, 0-5). Dadeville is coming off of a 42-0 loss at Pike Road on Friday night.

In 2018, the Bobcats defeated Dadeville 32-27.
