VALLEY — Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Gooden, 86, of Valley, Ala. passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 at her residence.  She was born on Oct. 11, 1932 in Harris County, Ga. to the late Willie Aubrey Myers and Essie Hale Myers.

Mrs. Gooden is survived by her five siblings, Sonny Ray Myers, Marlon “Buck” Myers, Hermon (Cheryl) Myers, Shirley Turner, and Margie (Allan) Carson; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gooden, and her sister, Roxie Adamson.

Mrs. Gooden was a member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church in Lanett, Ala. for over 50 years.  She liked to visit with people and never met a stranger. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, westerns, and cartoons.  She loved everyone, especially children who she could color with.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley.  Pastor Steve Langley officiated.  Interment followed in Fairfax Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. EST until the service hour at the funeral home.
